Loudest in the class!
Tonight was our first swim lesson. I might be a tad critical because I have taught swimming before. There were two girls who taught the class together. One of them was the lead instructor and the other girl seemed to be assisting. The lead instructor started class out by saying that she had a lot of experience with Parent/Child classes and follows up the statement with UNFORTUNATELY. I couldn't help but react on my face and then she sorted back tracked. I still gasp at thought of that coming out of her mouth!! Oh well. Apparently it's not her favorite class to teach. I also was expecting that they would have some sort of introductions so that the parents could get to know each other and get to know the other kids in the class. No introductions. Again, oh well. Like I said this is what I am used to from teaching it myself. I am just going to have to be assertive and talk to the others moms and introduce Brody and myself. However, that leads me to the title of the blog. Brody will not need any introductions. He was SOOO excited. Squealing away. If you don't know my child the first thing you would probably notice about him is that he is VERY verbal. He loves to talk to people. He is also in a screaming phase, so when he is not jabbering sweetly he is likely to be found screaming. The women in the Child care at the Y tell me all the time how talkative he is and how much they love it. So since he was excited he was just squealing away. Everyone kept looking at us. :) I don't recall even hearing any other children, except for the sad little girl who left early because she was having a hard time adjusting to the water. Poor little thing. It didn't help that the water was COLD. Seriously the instructor was shivering. So Brody was even more loud then the sad little girl who was crying. I will say the it was so fun. I loved interacting with him this way and working with him to teach him to swim. I love the water. I love swimming. It's always been important to me that my kids learn to swim at a young age. I believe that swimming builds confidence. I wondered whether or not my kids would like the water because Don doesn't so much. He hates getting wet, especially his ears. But so far so good. Brody is a natural. Loves to try and put his face in and is getting more comfortable on his back. It was very fun!
