Sex in the City

If there is one quality about myself that could possibly get me into trouble it's that I am curious. People will warn me against movies but my curiousity gets the best of me and I just have to see it. I have watched Sex in the City episodes on TV. Sometimes they can be funny, sometimes a little too vulgar for my taste. I had gone back in forth in my head whether or not I would go see the movie. I was curious. I even looked at reviews first, not just regular movie reviews but I went online to Christianity Today. There was a mild warning but it didn't seem that bad and they didn't say to stay away. So I thought maybe it wouldn't be that bad, maybe a nude seen here or there and I could look away. The thing that made me more intrigued was that the writer said that it was really good how they depicted the relationship between the ladies. That synched it for me. I wanted to see it at that point.

Unfortunately I could never recommend this movie. I had heard that in one of the HBO episodes at one point they had shown a man naked. So I expected something but not what I got. I will say that I tried to close my eyes anytime there was anything sexual or nakedness. However, I didn't always succeed in anticipating the upcoming events. The sex scenes aren't even like sex scenes I felt like I was watching soft porn. The scenes were graphic, and completely unneccessary for the movie.

For me it was unfortunate. I will say that the relationship between the women was depicted beautifully. Their friendship was shown in a way that I felt I had never quite seen in the actual shows. Also, the story line was captivating and engaging. They did an amazing job with the movie. I am sad because I would have loved to own it, but would never want this movie in my home because of their depiction of sexual relations and the lack of modesty in the film. I was told by my sister as she laughs, "Well the title is Sex in the City." The moral of the story... curiousity killed the cat. :)

yeah, just due to the title of the movie and the shows...I won't watch them. I am all aware of the curiousity, though!
