Quickly checking in!

I am on my computer less and less these days. When I am on it's to check my email quickly, or work on editing pictures. Last week we finally took Brody in to get his first hair cut. It feels kind of weird to me now when I look at him. He still looks little but a little bit more grown up. He did pretty well until they got the razor out and then he started to pitch a fit. I could imagine it's kind of scary when your dad comes over and puts the Mike Tyson grip on you and some strange guy that you don't know is coming at you with some weird thing that is buzzing. The only time we hold him down is when something he doesn't like is about to happen so he started screaming. Poor little guy. We got through it and at the end I clapped for him and told him it was all done. He looks at me in the mirror and starts to clap but he was still crying. It was really cute.

My weekend was a whirl wind and has left me exhausted. I need to go to bed but really wanted to catch up on my blog. So Friday night we stayed home and I got my stuff together for my first wedding for the summer. I was a little nervous as it was a Catholic wedding and they are usually very particular about there being no flash used during the Mass. I can respect that it just makes lighting a bit more challenging. I also was going to my friends Bachelorette party after the wedding.
So first off the wedding pictures were starting at 9:30 on Saturday. I plan a lot of time for pictures and I always use all the time that I have up. I planned on being at the church by 8:45 so that I could play around in the Sanctuary a bit with the lighting. My sister Roxanne assists me and we arrived at the church around 8:50 am. I got up at 6 that morning and couldn't go back to sleep. So I figured it would be a long day but I had no idea how long it would actually be. The wedding went well and was really fun. The couple was probably the most or one of the most fun I have had photographing. They were so sweet and completely in love. I was excited to be there but was so excited to be done so I could head to the party. :) You can view some of the pictures on my photography blog. If you go to the side of my blog and click on JR Photography blog it will take you there. (Sorry I tried to create a link but it wasn't working.)

Anyway we are done with the wedding, finally packed up and I get in the SUV to start it and it won't start. GUESS WHO LEFT THE LIGHTS ON??? ROXANNE!!!!

HAHAHAHAHHA... no I am just kidding. I left the lights on but when Don asked me what happened jokingly I told him Roxanne did it. :) Poor girl. So I found a guy to help us but he had to go looking for jumper cables. He was trying to figure out how he would pull up to the SUV to give it a jump and I told him that I could just back up and pull up to him so that we were facing each other. He looks at me and says :Uhhh.. No you can'!" and I said "WHY NOT!!" Seriously I said this and he looks at me and says " Think about it." Roxanne finally intervenes and says Jennifer the SUV is dead... OH YEAH! Mommy Moment # 456,763. So that was embarrassing. It gets better. The truck is ready. So I get in start backing up and realize that I left the hatch back open!! My photography equipment was in the back. Lovely. I am getting brighter by the moment. Oh yeah did I mention that I had introduced myself to a bridesmaid and then 10 minutes later introduced myself to the same bridesmaid. :)

Ok... on with my story. So we are finally home. I go freshen up. I hadn't eaten since breakfast and it is now 3:45. I had breakfast at 7am. I needed to eat something so I grabbed a banana. I am finally on my way to the bachelorette party. Little did I know what was to come. What should have been a 25 minute drive took me over an hour! I get into the area and am driving down a cty rd. looking for my turn. I knew I had gone a mile but did not see my turn. I turned around and looked for it again. NOTHING... I turned around and looked for it again. I was started to get flustered. I turned around again... and started heading back towards the road I had turned off of. I pulled into an SA. I had been driving around for about 30 minutes at this point. I get a hold of Don at the phone at the gas station because I did not have a cell phone. He gave me the phone number I needed for the girl hosting the party. NO ANSWER!!! I was about ready to cry. I asked for a local map. I looked at the map and found the road I needed it and took note of the bigger roads around it. It looked like it was a split intersection one road going to the right and a different road to the left. Sure enough, I find the intersection and the road I needed. The road going to the right from the direction I was coming from was a main road well known and marked clearly with an arrow pointing that way. However, there was no description of the road that goes to the left or the street name. The sign wasn't right off the road it was in a bit so really hard to see. I was so mad.... I don't know how the heck I would have ever found it if it wasn't for the map. So I look at the rest of the directions and they aren't making any sense. So I stop again and ask a woman in the neighborhood where the road was that I needed. Luckily I was right by it and she knew exactly where it was. I finally find the house. I got there about 5:45pm and had left my house at 4:25. It was awful. I was so flustered. I walk in the door and was asked right away if I had called from the SA... yep that was me. They all felt bad, apparently a lot of people had gotten lost. The directions from mapquest were terrible. So they gave me a margarita, made me a plate of food and the festivities began. We were going to a dueling piano bar and had reserved seating, so we had a limited time to open gifts and head to the piano bar. It was so fun to watch her open her gifts.
The piano bar was crazy. I was expecting something totally different then what it was. It was really fun but much more vulgar then I thought it would be. The guys playing piano were pretty much making crude sex jokes the whole night and everyone in the bar was pretty smashed. Including my girlfriend! Whoopsie! It was HER bachelorette party. Needless to say I think she had a good time. We were probably the most conservative group there. We all had fun and at some point everyone danced but compared to the people around us we were pretty tame. I brought my camera and took many hilarious pictures and at some point I am going to post some or create a slideshow from the night. I didn't get to bed until about 2am, now if you remember I started my day at 6am!! I was SOOOO tired when I got home.

So Don let me sleep in this morning, but I still woke up around 8am and couldn't go back to sleep. So I pull myself out of bed, head into the living room. He looks at me and says do you mind if I go back to sleep. So he went back to bed, about an hour later Brody went down for his morning nap. At this point I was wide awake but I knew it would hit me later. I decided to take out the computer and start going through wedding pictures. Around NOON... Don comes out of the bedroom!! Seriously I wish I could fall back asleep but that has never been one of my qualities, UNFORTUNATELY! Shortly after Brody followed. We really didn't do much all day. I have been more tired then I have felt in a long time. Even now not sure why the heck I am still up but I am. We went to the park after supper just to get some fresh air. We got home put Brodes to bed and then decided to sit outside and play some cards. It was a nice way to end our weekend. This weekend was fun but it definately made me feel like an old lady; one I am not as comfortable in bars as I used to be ( which is ok. by me), two I can't stay up as late as I used to. I felt hungover all day and I can guarantee you that I wasn't. Oh well. Good night all.. this old lady is going to bed!
